The holiday season can be the hardest and most stressful time for a lot of people with the pressure of family, friends, traveling, gifts, shopping, and planning dinners. Not to mention the colder weather can often be followed by the winter blues as more people stay indoors. That’s why you can feel the energy shift as spring starts to bloom. The weather gets warmer, the grass turns green again, the flowers are blooming, and you can hear nature come back alive. It’s a refreshing feeling after a stressful season which is why many people use this as a time for self-care.

It’s important to take some extra time to pour back into yourself after pouring into others for the last few months. Spring can bring new motivation to go on an adventure or accomplish tasks that you have been procrastinating. Use this new season as a form of self-care by creating a Spring Bucket List of things that get you excited and give you something to look forward to.

Try Something New

It’s really quite simple, try something new to you this spring. The exciting part of this is listing out all of the adventures you want to tackle this season, as the possibilities are endless. It could be something big like skydiving or something small like trying new food, even if it’s just a bite. It’s all about getting out of your comfort zone and persevering through the fear of the unknown to reach the next level. Find comfort in the uncomfortable as that is where greatness is born. There’s no greater feeling than achieving something you were scared to start and who knows, you may discover your new favorite thing!

Get Outside

Spring is in the air, get outside and enjoy it! There are a lot of proven benefits of spending time in the sun every day such as Vitamin D, resetting your internal clock, and boosting your overall mood. Spending just 10 minutes in the sun each day can help you physically and mentally feel better so that you can tackle all of your goals. Find different ways that you can get outside to your list and try to incorporate outdoor activities that you enjoy into your Spring Bucket List. Maybe you plan to walk more, go on a hike, visit the beach, or choose to sit on the patio at your favorite restaurant. Whatever you do, you’ll feel better after.

Spring Clean

Did you know there’s actually a direct correlation between your environment and your mood? A disorganized or messy house can contribute to feeling stressed, anxious, and depressed, that’s why you instantly feel better after tidying up and cleaning spaces in your home. Creating a restful and peaceful environment to come home and relax in can dramatically boost your mood compared to the anxiety and stress you may feel sitting in a home that is cluttered or dirty. Take some time to do some spring cleaning this season and treat yourself to an oasis every time you come home. No matter what happens to you throughout the day, the least you can do for yourself is provide a happy and clean space to come home to.

Plan an Adventure

While this could also fit under the “Try Something New” section, adventures are everywhere for us to find and it may be something you’ve done before and know you enjoy. Adventures could be a hike on your favorite trail, a shopping trip at the nearby mall, going to explore a nearby city, or planning a trip with friends. Maybe you’re looking for a more thrilling adventure to spark some motivation to accomplish the rest of your Spring Bucket List like zip lining or sky diving. Pick something that you will enjoy and will help boost your mood, but whatever you choose, do it with courage and confidence and embrace the feeling of victory after. Get out of your comfort zone and watch as you achieve things you never thought were possible.
