Whether it’s your first date or you have been together for years, planning dates around activities can help you get to know someone better than just small talk over dinner. Sharing experiences that force you out of your comfort zone can be a real bonding moment for two people. On behalf of Tough Mudder, Harris Poll conducted a survey of over 2,000 people in the U.S. and discovered that almost 40% of respondents said they’d rather go on an extreme fitness/outdoor recreation date versus dinner and a movie. In addition, 3 in 5 people, or 60% of those surveyed said they would be more attracted to someone who took them on a non-traditional first date (rock climbing, zip-lining, paddle boarding, concert, etc.).
Going on a zip-lining date is a great way to get to know someone on another level and develop or strengthen your connection. You get the adrenaline rush from zip lining that you just can’t get from dinner and a movie. Not only will the thrill of the adventure help to distract and ease the nerves you may have from a first date, but zip line tours typically aren’t private and will have other people on the tour with you. This gives you the opportunity to meet other people and see how your date interacts with strangers in a different environment! Plus, your tour guides may end up being the perfect wingman.
Life is too short to go on boring dates any longer! Skip the cliche dinner and drinks and go on a date that will actually bring the two of you closer together. Make memories that will last a lifetime while you still can and live life to the fullest. On the bright side, even if the date doesn’t work out, you still got an amazing adventure out of it.
