By April 18, 2018December 9th, 2019No Comments

Image of group watching movies. Represents Empower Adventures blog. At Empower Adventures, we love seeing zip lining in the movies. It conveys an excellent sense of thrill that viewers can easily connect with. As such, many movie directors have used a zip line for some intense action scenes. Today, Empower Adventures blog discusses some of the most famous zip lining scenes to come from the movies.

Rush Hour 2 (2001)

Near the end of the movie our two heroes, Carter and Lee, have finally defeated the bad guy and things look like they’re wrapped up. That is until a henchwoman brings a bomb that is about to explode into the room.  To escape, the two use their jackets to zipline down a line of Chinese lanterns and escape the massive explosion. They nearly end up landing directly in the path of an oncoming semi, but Lee’s quicking thinking saves the duo again.

Moonraker (1979)

Any action scene blog would be incomplete without a James Bond flick. In Moonraker, Bond is trying to escape from Jaws in a cable car. After Jaws chomps the cable to stop their cable car, Bond and his heroine zipline down the cable car using a makeshift chain before dropping to the ground. Of course, Bond gets the best of Jaws and escapes with the girl.

Back to the Future (1985)

One of our favorite movies at Empower Adventures — Back to the Future uses a zipline in a key scene. Doc needs to reconnect a powerline in order for Marty to make it back. As the clock ticks toward the deadline, Doc needs to zipline down a power cord in order to connect everything at the same time that Marty hits 88 in his Delorean. The scene is intense and hilarious and is one of the many reasons Back to the Future is a classic.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)

Pirates of the Caribbean will always have a place in our hearts. Johnny Depp found his calling playing the drunken, mischievous Jack Sparrow. In Curse of the Black Pearl, Jack is up to his zany hijinks again. He makes a daring escape from the Royal Marines and uses his handcuffs to zipline away. We’ll always remember that scene as the time they “almost, caught Jack Sparrow.”
